HOLLY HAMLIN DESIGNS + 5 tips for better headshots
September 29, 2020
I have had the opportunity to get to know Holly and her sweet family over the past two years, bonding over new babies and our mutual love for pretty things. During quarantine Holly decided to start a new hobby that quickly became more. Her art is beautiful and her kindness is unmatched. I had the honor of taking some headshots for her new side business, so here are just a few from our short 20 minutes together!
Ps. If you scroll to the end of the post, I’m sharing 5 tips for getting fun + eye catching headshots!
5 TIPS FOR HEADSHOTS!
Wear something you’re comfortable in, something with visual interest! Wear a flowy dress to give movement or a fun top with details. Layers are always a YES and help give you something to grab ahold of. Not sure if what you’re picking out works? Send me pics always! I’m always happy to give some direction!
Don’t overthink your location ideas. Some of the best solo shots are like Holly’s above, taken at her home. Less is more!
Laugh, like actually laugh! I get it. It’s awkward to take photos alone. But its just me, guys. And I like to think I’m pretty funny. Plus, I’m really into being your hype girl. YAS.
The “it feels silly” poses are not silly. You don’t look silly. You look dang good.
Your effort to get all cute is half of the battle. The other half is to get out of your head and be proud your taking the professional step of getting it together. Smile and have fun. The world is hard enough and in these few moments we are together, none of that matters. What matters is feeling good, like you should. 😉
